- The Governor signed The Public Safety and Offender Accountability Act (HB 463). The Act dramatically changes and requires officials to develop standard policies and procedures for pre-trial release, diversion, probation and parole. It shifts the focus from punishment to rehabilitation and incentives offenders to comply with program rules . Damon Preston, a Deputy Public Advocate with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy authored a comprehensive review of the new law.
December 2010
- A bill was pre-filed (KY H 31) that would restructure DUI penalties and expand the “look back” period from five to ten years.
